The Advisor
The primary guide for your entire journey.
- Mentorship: Helps you set goals, plans activities, and reviews your Record Book before submission.
- Relationship: Long-term relationship. Usually one person for the whole award.
- Who qualifies: Teacher, counselor, coach, employer, or community leader.
- Restrictions: Cannot be a parent, relative, or peer.
The Validator
Verifies your progress for specific activities.
- Role: Signs off on your logged hours and confirms you met your goals for a specific activity.
- Who qualifies: A supervisor for that specific activity (e.g., Shelter Manager, Piano Teacher, Hike Leader).
- Restrictions: Cannot be a parent or relative.
Common Questions about Validation
Can my school teacher be my Advisor?
Yes! Teachers, counselors, and coaches are excellent choices for Advisors.
Can my gym instructor be my Physical Fitness Validator?
Yes! They are the perfect person to verify your hours and progress at the gym.
What if I change Advisors?
You can change Advisors if needed. Just make sure your new Advisor reviews your past progress.
Do I need a signature for every hour?
No, but you need a Validator's signature to verify the total hours spent on a specific goal/activity.
